Our tryouts are designed to identify and group players by similar ability levels, ensuring competitive balance and development focus. No commitment is required to attend - just the opportunity to be seen, grow, and find your place in a program that believes every player deserves the chance to succeed.
At FCGB Center of Excellence, our mission is to develop confident and skilled youth soccer players by providing expert training, personal growth, and long-term opportunities to succeed, both on and off the field.

How to prepare for soccer tryouts?
Train regularly in the weeks leading up to tryouts. Focus on improving ball control, passing accuracy, speed, endurance, and quick decision-making. Practice under pressure and simulate game situations. Show up rested, focused, and ready to give 100%. Listen to instructions, apply feedback quickly, and stay positive throughout the session.
What to wear to soccer tryouts?
Wear soccer cleats and shin guards — both are essential. Choose lightweight, breathable athletic clothing that allows you to move freely. Avoid baggy or restrictive gear. You don’t need a uniform, but look ready to compete. Bring a full water bottle, and pack an extra in case you’re staying for multiple sessions.
How do soccer tryouts work?
Expect a mix of technical drills, small-sided games, and situational exercises. Coaches will evaluate your first touch, passing, ball control, movement off the ball, and decision-making under pressure. You'll also be assessed on fitness, positioning, and how you perform in game-like scenarios. Show focus and intensity from the first whistle.
What do coaches look for in soccer tryouts?
Coaches watch how you move, think, and interact. They look for players who hustle, stay engaged, make smart decisions, and support teammates. A positive attitude matters as much as skill. Take feedback seriously, adjust quickly, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes while trying to improve — effort and coachability are key.
